Unable to sign in check your credentials and try again ошибка outlook

Morning

We are seeing strange behavior where one Mac user cannot get Outlook to authenticate with his Office 365 account.

To summarise:

— User seeing error ‘unable to add account please check your credentials’

— Password has been reset

— Able to log into web portal (OWA)

— Able to add account to mobile device

— Able to add account to Windows device

— Able to add other 365 accounts.

— Unable to login using  ‘https://outlook.office365.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx’ Opens a new window as server address. Seeing error ‘access denied’.

— Unable to add account to Outlook version 15.xx or 16.xx, from two different Mac devices and builds, including latest version of High Sierra

—

Keychain has been reset

Everything seems to point to an authenticationidentification problem with the users account against the 365 servers. Support call has been raised with Microsoft but no positive feedback so far.

Has anyone else ran into this issue or can make any further suggestions as to what we can try from our end?

  • We have set up Exchange 2016 infrastructure (build 1466.3) alongside our 2010 servers. Started migrating users. We’ve had some authentication problems on Virtual Directories despite following best practices — basically had to switch on basic auth on MAPI-over-HTTP
since negotiate authentication keeps failing. But this isn’t the problem I’m trying to fix today.

Now we’re trying to move our migration endpoint for 365 hybrid setup over to use one of the new 2016 servers. We have 2 servers that can be accessed via our load balancer and their EWS directories have the MRS Proxy endpoint enabled.

Here’s my problem. This is after switching on basic auth on the appropriate EWS vdir out of desparation. That doesn’t work in this case since 365 really wants to do negotiate authentication. The account I’m using had the ‘account is densitive and cannot
be delegated’ flag on but I switched it off for testing.

Something is fundamentally wrong with our authentication on the whole 2016 set-up to be honest; so perhaps if we can get to the bottom of this problem it will fix our other problems, too.

  • Fixed it!

MAPI over HTTP wasn’t working properly on our external domain (‘webmail’) because Negotiate / Kerberos authentication was failing, despite the fact that we had added the SPNs correctly, etc. This caused Outlook off-site to fail to connect. It turns out that
our FortiADC load balancer (set up according to their Exchange guides) was somehow messing up the authentication.
I’ve removed the LB from the loop, and just using DNS round robin has fixed the authentication problems with MAPI over HTTP. It’s also fixed this problem, and the 365 admin console has now happily let me add the new Exchange hostname as a migration endpoint
(in fact it found it from Autodiscover) and it works.

Thanks for those who tried to help

If you are trying to start the Microsoft Outlook application on your Windows 10 computer but you suddenly receive a message box with an error message that says, “We are unable to connect right now, Please check your network and try again later”, read on as this post will guide you on how you can fix this error.

This kind of error in Microsoft Outlook could be due to some issues with your internet connection or it could also be due to the VPN software if you’re using one. Whatever the cause is, there are several potential fixes you can check out to fix the error. You have to check your internet connection or try changing it. You could also try to disable your VPN software or restart your computer or Microsoft Outlook and try starting the app again. In addition, you can also try entering your password again or check some settings in the Windows Registry or open Microsoft Outlook in Safe Mode. Refer to the guidelines provided below to further troubleshoot the problem.

Option 1 – Try to check your internet connection

The first thing you can do to resolve the problem is to check your internet connection. You have to make sure that you are connected to the internet and that it has a stable connection.

Option 2 – Try to restart your computer or Microsoft Outlook and try again

The next thing you can do to fix the error is to restart your computer or Microsoft Outlook. This simple process can actually help you fix the problem as it could only be a glitch that can be fixed with a simple restart.

Option 3 – Try to enter your password again

You could also try entering your password again to resolve the error. Just click on the Cancel button to open a dialog box and then enter your password again and see if it helps. Note that you might have to do it for all your email IDs in Microsoft Outlook.

Option 4 – Try opening Microsoft Outlook in Safe Mode and disabling its add-ins

Putting Microsoft Outlook into Safe Mode can help you identify the problems in it. Safe Mode also helps you fix a certain issue caused by some corrupted add-in. To start your Microsoft Outlook in Safe Mode, refer to these steps:

  • Tap Win + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  • Next, type in “Outlook /safe” and press Enter to run the command.
  • After that, it will ask you to select a profile that you want to use. Just simply select a profile from the drop-down menu and click on the OK button.
  • Now you have successfully opened Microsoft Outlook in Safe Mode. As a result, it will start with disabling the add-ins. Meaning to say, there is some corrupted add-in that’s causing the problem, and that you need to look for that add-in and either disable it or have it permanently removed.
  • Once you’ve identified the corrupted add-in, you can disable or remove it by going to File > Options > Add-ins. From there, select the option “COM Add-ins” from the drop-down menu and then click the Go button.
  • Finally, close Microsoft Outlook once you’ve covered the given steps above and then try to open it normally.

Option 5 – Try disabling the VPN

As pointed out earlier, if you are using VPN, this could be the reason why you’re getting the “We are unable to connect right now, Please check your network and try again later” error so the most obvious thing to do is for you to turn off the VPN and try to run the Windows Update once more. And if you use a VPN software that works using their software, you can just completely exit or log-off from its account. On the other hand, if you are using a built-in Windows 10 VPN, you can simply turn it off or delete all the settings you have created there.

Option 6 – Try to check the settings in the Registry

  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run utility and type “Regedit” in the field and tap Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Next, navigate to this registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesNlaSvcParametersInternet
  • From there, look for the DWORD named “EnableActiveProbing” and make sure that its value is set to “1”. When the value is set to 1, it means that it is Enabled. This is the default setting and is used to identify the status of the network connectivity of your computer.

Windows has a lot of built-in tools that help you fix tons of system-related issues. One of them is the System File Check which is the tool you can use to conveniently replace potentially corrupted or missing system files with good ones. But what happens when it does not work? Well, you’ve come to the right place as in this post, you will be guided on how you can replace a corrupted single Windows system file manually with a known good copy of the file if the System File Checker scan is not working.

When you encounter this issue with the System File Checker, it will be unable to replace the corrupted system files and returns an error message instead. And so to fix and replace corrupted system files in your Windows 10 computer without the help of System File Checker, you can refer to the instructions provided below.

Step 1: First, you need to open the log files listed below and identify which particular file has been corrupted:

  • %userprofile%Desktopsfcdetails.txt
  • Log %WinDir%LogsCBSCBS.log

Step 2: You will see all the details on the given log files. Once you find out the name and the path of the file, you have to take ownership of this corrupted system file.

Step 3: To take ownership of the corrupted file, you need to pull up Command Prompt by tapping Win + R keys on your keyboard and then type “cmd” and tap Enter.

Step 4: After opening Command Prompt, type and enter the command below to execute it:

takeown /f FileNameAndPath

Note: In the given command, “FileNameAndPath” represents the name and the path of the corrupted file. For instance, the corrupted file is named “wuapi.dll”, then you need to type “takeown /f C:/Windows/System32/wuapi.dll”

Step 5: Next, you need to grant administrators full access & control to the corrupted file and you can do that via Command Prompt again.

Step 6: In the elevated Command Prompt, type and enter the following command to execute it:

icacls FileNameAndPath /GRANT ADMINISTRATORS:F

Note: We’re going to use the wuapi.dll again as an example. So the command should be like this: icacls “C:/Windows/System32/wuapi.dll /grant administrators: F”.

Step 7: Now all that’s left to do is replace the corrupted system file with a good copy from a trusted source. Once you have a copy, open an elevated Command Prompt again and execute the following command:

copy NewFileLocation FileNameAndPath

Note: In the command given above, the “NewFileLocation” is the location where you have saved the copy of the file. For instance, if you’ve saved it on your desktop, this is how it should look: “copy C:/Users/<username>/Desktop/wuapi.dll C:/windows/system32/wuapi.dll”

This post will guide you in what to do if the DisplayLink in Windows 10 is not working. There are several users who reported that their DisplayLink device has stopped working with the Windows 20 Anniversary or the Creators update all of a sudden. According to users, this issue occurs right after they finish installing a big Windows Update like the Anniversary Update or the Creators Update or right when the DisplayLink driver is updated using Windows Update.

DisplayLink is a graphics transport technology that allows users to connect to any computer that supports USB or Wi-Fi. Aside from that, it is also an excellent universal docking solution to any platform which makes it a great solution for enabling multiple displays. Thus, it can be quite annoying when DisplayLink suddenly stops working. There really is no actual error message when it happens. The only telltale sign is that all the devices that use the DisplayLink technology will also stop functioning. There could be tons of reasons why DisplayLink stopped working. It could be due to an incompatible driver, or the DisplayLink driver itself is corrupted or is connected to a USB 2.0 port. In addition, the problem could also be due to the Nvidia Share (ShadowPlay) that conflicts with DisplayLink or that the Universal Serial Bus is broken. To resolve the issue, refer to the following options laid out below.

Option 1 – Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

As you know, Windows comes with a built-in tool that you can use to troubleshoot the problem with DisplayLink. You can find it in Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. For further instructions, follow these steps:

  • The first thing you need to do is click on Start and then on the gear-like icon to pull up the window for Settings.
  • After opening Settings, look for the Update and Security option and select it.
  • From there, go to the Troubleshoot option located on the left-hand side of the list.
  • Next, select Hardware and Devices from the list and open the Troubleshooter and run it. Once it is doing its job, wait for it to complete the process and then restart the system.
  • After the system restarts, check if the problem’s now fixed. If not, refer to the next option given below.

Option 2 – Try to uninstall DisplayLink and reconnect the docking station

If the Hardware and Device troubleshooter is of no help, you can try uninstalling DisplayLink and reconnecting the docking station. To do so, follow these steps:

  • Disconnect the docking station or any other device that uses DisplayLink.
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “cpl” and hit Enter to open Programs and Features.
  • From there, look for DisplayLink, right-click on it and click Uninstall.
  • After that, follow the next on-screen instructions that appear on your screen to completely remove DisplayLink from your computer.
  • Once you’ve uninstalled DisplayLink, click this link to download and install DisplayLink again.
  • Now reconnect the docking station as well as other devices that use DisplayLink and follow the next on-screen instructions to reinstall the required drivers in your computer.
  • Restart your computer and then check if DisplayLink is now working fine or not.

Option 3 – Try using a USB 3.0 port

If you are experiencing this issue with DisplayLink with a monitor that you’re trying to connect using DisplayLink, then you have to make sure that you are using a USB 3.0 port. Based on some reports, there are certain monitors that will not work with DisplayLink while connected to a USB 2.0 port since they have insufficient power to run the monitor.

Like pointed out earlier, the problem with DisplayLink might have something to do with the Nvidia ShadowPlay. This streaming feature was often reported to crash the DisplayLink monitors which is why you might want to try disabling it for a while to check if it’s really true. Once you’ve disabled Nvidia ShadowPlay, restart your computer and check if your DisplayLink monitor now works.

Option 5 – Reinstall the Universal Serial Bus controller

You can also reinstall the Universal Serial Bus controller to fix DisplayLink since a malfunctioning USB port can sometimes cause issues with DisplayLink.

  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “msc” in the field and hit Enter to open the Device Manager.
  • From there, look for the Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand its drop-down menu.
  • Next, right-click on every Host Controller and then click on Uninstall Device.
  • After uninstalling every entry, restart your computer to force your system to reinstall the drivers you’ve just uninstalled.
  • Once your computer has rebooted, wait until the drivers are reinstalled and then try opening DisplayLink again.

Option 5 – Reinstall the Universal Serial Bus controller

You can also try to perform a System Restore as it can also help you fix DisplayLink. You can do this option either by booting into Safe Mode or in System Restore. If you are already in the Advanced Startup Options, just directly select System Restore and proceed with the next steps. And if you have just booted your PC into Safe Mode, refer to the steps below.

  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • After that, type in “sysdm.cpl” in the field and tap Enter.
  • Next, go to the System Protection tab then click the System Restore button. This will open a new window where you have to select your preferred System Restore point.
  • After that, follow the on-screen instructions to finish the process and then restart your computer and check if the problem is fixed or not.

As you know, Microsoft is consistent in pushing updates to its supported versions of the Windows operating systems in order to make it better and defend it from different kinds of vulnerabilities. And pushing billions of active Windows computers every now and then is really not an easy thing to do since it calls for a complex Windows Update delivery module. These complexities often give rise to various errors like the Windows Update error code 0x80004005.

When you encounter this kind of Windows Update error, you will see the following error message on your screen:

“There were problems installing some updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help 0x80004005.”

This kind of Windows Update error occurs due to an issue while either installing or downloading an update. There are several ways you can fix the problem. You can try to replace the dpcdll.dll file, reset the Windows Update-related services, run the Windows Update troubleshooter or manually install the Windows Updates. For more details, check out the options given below.

Option 1 – Try to replace the DLL file with a trusted source

The first thing you can do is to replace the dpcdll.dll file with a trusted source.

  • First, you need to get the new dpcdll.dll file from another computer with preferably the same file version number as your computer.
  • After that, you need to boot your PC into Safe Mode and navigate to the paths listed below and then replace the file using a USB drive or other external storage devices.
    • For x86: This PC > C:/Windows/System32
    • For x64: This PC > C:/Windows/SysWOW64
  • Next, type “cmd” in the Cortana search box and right-click on Command Prompt, and select “Run as administrator” to open it with administrator privileges.
  • Now type the “regsvr32 dpcdll.dll” command and hit Enter.
  • Restart your PC and check if the error is now fixed.

Option 2 – Try to reset the Windows Update components

If by any chance that the third option didn’t work, you can also try resetting the Windows Update components as it could also help you resolve the Windows Update error. How? Refer to the following steps:

  • Open Command Prompt with admin privileges.
  • After that, type each one of the following commands and hit Enter after you key in one after the other.
    • net stop wuauserv
    • net stop cryptsvc
    • net stop bits
    • net stop msiserver

Note: The commands you entered will stop the Windows Update components such as Windows Update service, Cryptographic services, BITS and MSI Installer.

  • After disabling WU components, you need to rename both the SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folders. To do that, type each one of the following commands below and don’t forget to hit Enter after you type one command after the other.
    • ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    • ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 Catroot2.old
  • Next, restart the services you’ve stopped by entering another series of commands. Don’t forget to hit Enter after you key in one command after the other.
    • net start wuauserv
    • net start cryptsvc
    • net start bits
    • net start msiserver
  • Close Command Prompt and reboot your PC.

Option 3 – Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

You might also want to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter as it could also help in fixing Windows Update error 0x80004005. To run it, go to Settings and then select Troubleshoot from the options. From there, click on Windows Update and then click the “Run the troubleshooter” button. After that, follow the next on-screen instructions and you should be good to go.

Option 4 – Try downloading and installing the Windows Updates manually

Windows Update Error 0x80004005 might be due to a Windows Update that has failed. So if it is not a feature update and only a cumulative update, you can download the Windows Update and install it manually. But first, you need to find out which update has failed, and to do so, refer to the following steps:

  • Go to Settings and from there go to Update and Security > View Update History.
  • Next, check which particular update has failed. Note that Updates that have failed to install will be displayed under the Status column which has a label of “Failed”.
  • After that, go to the Microsoft Download Center and look for that update using its KB number and once you find it, download and then install it manually.

Note: You can also use the Microsoft Update Catalog, a service from Microsoft that provides a list of software updates that can be distributed over a corporate network. With the help of this service, it can be easier for you to find Microsoft software updates, drivers as well as fixes.

Most Common Microsoft Outlook errors

When you have a program, you know before you even start to use it or even know how that you are going to have problems with it.

There are always going to be error messages and things that don’t work on any program you buy or download; guaranteed.

Even some of the most famous program developers in the world make mistakes from time to time and it is a small price to pay for the programs you get and that is a fact. Microsoft Outlook is like any other program; it has its errors. Here are some of the most common errors for Microsoft Outlook on your computer.

1. Problem receiving emails

Sometimes you can be waiting on really important emails. It is really infuriating when you know that they have been sent, however every time you check your email box, there is nothing there!

Your inbox is empty and your patience is wearing thin, so could it possibly be an error with Microsoft Outlook? There is a high probability that this is the problem. The program can be a bit slow on receiving emails sometimes, often even by days.

This can be caused by any number of things, from having too many emails coming through or having too many emails in your inbox.

If you click ‘send and receive’ at the top, it should speed up your emails coming through, however, so give that a try if you’re waiting on anything to come through. If this doesn’t work, however, your inbox may be full.

Try permanently deleting some useless messages and then click ‘send and receive’ again. All your emails should come through then!

2. General slow performance

Outlook, while it has its advantages, can often be very slow. It is probably slower than some other email programs that require a browser but it is quicker to access, which may make up for this fact.

However, sometimes sluggish performance can be really irritating, so it may be wise to try and fix it if you can. One of the reasons it may be acting slow is if you have too many other Windows applications open.

Applications that may interfere with your Outlook’s speed could be anything from Microsoft Word to Windows Live Messenger. If any of these are open, try closing them and see if that helps with the speed problem.

3. Corrupt files

.dbx files are not accessible by Microsoft Outlook. Therefore, they can cause problems with your emails if you have them within them.

To solve this problem, you may have to delete all of your attached email accounts and then reattach them before you can open your emails again.

These corrupt files can also cause you to be unable to delete emails. You will need to transfer these deleted corrupt files into a separate deletion folder as this is usually caused by the folder being corrupt.

Of all the other most frequent problems with Microsoft Outlook, however, this is probably the least likely to happen, which shows how few problems there actually are with this application after all that!

Conclusion

So there are the most common problems with Microsoft Outlook! Not much wrong at all, is there?

NDIS or Network Driver Interface Specification is a programming interface for the network interface cards that aids in the proper functioning of a system driver in a computer network. The NDIS helps the computer system in order to communicate with other connected devices and hardware components on a computer network. In relation, the ndis.sys file is a critical system file developed by Microsoft for the Windows operating system. As you know, sys files or system files are important parts of the Windows operating system as well as a repository of system driver settings used by Windows to communicate with the connected hardware and devices.

The ndis.sys files are stored mostly in a driver folder at C:/Windows/System32/drivers and as mentioned, these files are essential for the system to function properly. Although the presence of ndis.sys system file is not yet known to affect the normal functioning of the Windows OS, some of the Windows 10 users reported that they encountered ndis.sys blue screen errors on their PCs. Blue Screen of Death errors or Stop errors usually occurs when you open a program or a function. Moreover, it could also occur when the driver gets loaded during the system startup or during system shutdown.

It isn’t yet clear what really causes the ndis.sys blue screen error. However, like other Stop errors, it may occur due to corrupted files, misconfigured device drivers, bad drivers, corrupted Windows Registry, missing or damaged system files, and malicious programs. Aside from the aforementioned reasons, the ndis.sys blue screen error might also occur if your hard disk is damaged and if the RAM is corrupted. In such cases, a lot of users usually disable the ndis.sys file. However, it won’t really resolve the issue since the file is required for the normal functioning of the operating system and even when you disable the file, it’s pretty useless as the file will start all over again. In addition, you might want to disable security programs or firewalls and antivirus programs in the meantime to check if these programs are the ones that are causing the error. And if you’ve determined that none of the security programs or firewalls and antivirus programs are to blame, refer to the options below that might help you resolve the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or ndis.sys Blue Screen of Death error.

Option 1 – Try to update or reinstall the PC device driver

The Ndis.sys Blue screen error can occur when the device driver in your computer is outdated or corrupted. Thus, you either have to update or reinstall it to fix the issue.

  • Tap the Win + R keys to launch Run.
  • Type in devmgmt.msc into the box and tap Enter or click OK to open the Device Manager.
  • After that, a list of device drivers will be displayed. If you see a red or yellow sign that shows up against the driver, right-click on the driver’s name and select “Update Driver Software” or “Uninstall”. And if you find any “Unknown device”, you need to update it as well.
  • Select the “Search automatically for updated driver software” option and then follow the instructions to complete the process.
  • Restart your PC.

Option 2 – Rollback your Network drivers

If you have updated the driver software as of late and you suddenly got this BSOD error, you might have to roll back the device driver – in other words, switch back to the previous working version. To do that, follow these steps:

  • Tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run window and then type in the “devmgmt.msc” command and hit Enter to open the Device Manager window.
  • Under the Device Manager, you will see a list of drivers. From there, look for the Network Adapters and expand it.
  • Next, select the driver entries that are labeled appropriately other than anything in the context of the WAN Miniport.
  • Then select each one of them and double-click to open a new mini window.
  • After that, make sure that you’re on the Driver tab and if you are not, just navigate to it then click the Roll Back Driver button to switch back to the previous version of your Network adapters.
  • Now restart your computer to successfully apply the changes made.

Option 3 – Try running the System File Checker

The SFC or System File Checker scan could detect and automatically repair damaged system files that could be causing the ndis.sys Blue Screen of Death error. SFC is a built-in command utility that helps in restoring corrupted files as well as missing files. It replaces bad and corrupted system files with good system files. To run the SFC command, follow the steps given below.

  • Tap Win + R to launch Run.
  • Type in cmd in the field and tap Enter.
  • After opening Command Prompt, type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter.

The command will start a system scan which will take a few whiles before it finishes. Once it’s done, you could get the following results:

  1. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
  2. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
  3. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

Option 4 – Try running the CHKDSK utility

Running the CHKDSK utility might also help you resolve the Netwtw04.sys failed BSOD error. If your hard drive has issues with integrity, the update will really fail as the system will think that it’s not healthy and that’s where the CHKDSK utility comes in. The CHKDSK utility repairs hard drive errors that might be causing the problem.

  • Open Command Prompt with admin privileges.
  • After opening Command Prompt, execute the following command and hit Enter:

chkdsk /f /r

  • Wait for the process to be completed and then restart your computer.

Option 5 – Run the DISM Tool

The DISM tool is another command-line tool in the Windows operating system that could help users fix various corrupted system files. To use it, follow these steps:

  • Open the Command Prompt as admin.
  • Then type in this command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  • The DISM command you entered will repair the corrupted system image. Do not close the window if the process takes a while as it will probably take a few minutes to finish.
  • Restart your PC.

Option 6 – Perform a System Restore

Performing a System Restore on your computer can also help you fix the ndis.sys Blue Screen of Death error.

ListenToTheRadioNow is a Browser Extension that allegedly lets you listen to radio from your browser. However, all this extension does is add links to the popular radio stations on your home page.
This extension hijacks your home page and changes your default search provides to MyWay. While running it monitors browsing data from your browser, mining information such as website visits, clicked links, and sometimes even personal information. This information is later used to display targeted ads through your browser.
Several anti-virus scanners have marked this extension as a possible Browser Hijackers, and due to its data mining nature, it is not recommended to keep it on your computer.

About Browser Hijackers

Browser hijacking is a type of unwanted software, commonly a browser add-on or extension, which then causes modifications in the web browser’s settings. Browser hijackers could do more than just modifying homepages. In most cases, browser hijacking is used for earning ad revenue that comes from forced advert clicks and website visits. Even though it may seem naive, all browser hijackers are dangerous and therefore always regarded as security threats. They don’t just ruin your internet browsers, but browser hijackers could also modify the system registry to make your PC susceptible to other malicious programs.

How you can know whether the browser is hijacked?

There are several symptoms of browser hijacking:
1. home-page is changed
2. new bookmarks pointing to porn websites have been added to your bookmarks
3. the default internet search engine and/or the default web browser settings are altered
4. find new toolbars that you did not add
5. unstoppable flurries of popup ads show up on your PC screen
6. webpages load very slowly and often incomplete
7. you have prohibited entry to certain web pages, for example, the site of an anti-malware software firm like SafeBytes.

So how does a browser hijacker infect a PC

A browser hijacker could be installed on your computer or laptop if you visit an infected website, click on an e-mail attachment, or download something from a file-sharing website. They also come from add-on programs, also referred to as browser helper objects (BHO), browser plug-ins or toolbars. Also, some shareware and freeware can put the hijacker inside your computer through “bundling”. A good example of some popular browser hijackers includes Babylon, Anyprotect, Conduit, SweetPage, DefaultTab, Delta Search, and RocketTab, but the names are regularly changing.

Tips on how to get rid of a browser hijacker

Some hijackers can be removed by uninstalling the freeware they were included with or by eliminating any extension you’ve recently added to your computer. However, most hijacking codes are not very easy to eliminate manually, since they go deeper into your operating system. Furthermore, manual removal expects you to perform several time-consuming and tricky actions that are hard to do for new computer users.

Professionals always recommend users to get rid of any malicious software including browser hijacker with an automatic malware removal tool, which is simpler, safer, and faster than the manual removal technique. One of the top tools for correcting browser hijacker malware is SafeBytes Anti-Malware. It can help you eliminate any pre-existing malicious software in your computer and provides you real-time monitoring and protection from the latest internet threats. Employ a pc optimizer (such as Restoro) along with your anti-malware software to correct various registry problems, remove computer vulnerabilities, and improve your computer overall performance.

Goal: Setup a cloud environment that allows cloud users to be able to log into the Windows Virtual Desktop

Context:
I have signed up for the 90 day trial Azure AD Premium P2 license which also supplies the Microsoft 365 E5 Developer (without Windows and Audio Conferencing).
Also using my admin account created within the trial tenant, I have signed up for the 12month of free services with USD200 credit.

I have configured the Azure AD DS (no errors when provisioned). Kept the default domain name. I have set-up the Windows Virtual Desktop following the set-up wizard.

Issue:
I have successfully signed into my workspace using a cloud user credential via web client (https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient). When attempting to launch the session desktop, it prompts me to re-enter my credentials in which it returns sign in error (see attached image)

Troubleshoot steps:
Updated my cloud user password after AAD DS was created
Created new cloud user
Recreated the Host pool — Multisession

If anyone could provide some assistance, it would be much appreciated.

@Ice-9041

Wanted to check few things here based on the issue description.

Firstly, have you enabled the diagnostics on the service or enabled the tracing in the browser client to identify further info?
Are you using the UPN or sAMAccountName?
Assuming cloud only identity, after the password reset I assume you have waited 15min for the password hash to sync?

Are the VMs properly joined to the AAD DS domain?
Are the users synced to AAD DS?

Hi @vipullag-MSFT

The issue is now resolved as I have just re-created the VM Host pool (not sure what exactly was the problem).

To answer your questions:

Yes, I have enabled diagnostics and it didn’t really provide much regarding sign in issues.

I am using the UPN to sign in

I have reset the password and waited 20 or so minutes.

VM is joined to the AAD DS domain as I checked by utilises the run commands and users are synced to AAD DS.

Correction, so previously it was working and then I shutdown the VM to save spend.

2 hours later, I start up the VM and now I cannot login again. Receiving same error message as per image attached.

@Ice-9041 ,
I had the same issue, and it was intermittent. After checking with Microsoft Support, here’s what it should be done :

1- User should be granted Virtual Machine User Login or Virtual Machine Administrator Login role. : DONE
2- If using the web, Android, macOS, and iOS clients, you must add targetisaadjoined:i:1 as an RDP property to the host pool. : DONE
3- Per-user MFA has not been supported in AAD joined AVD, you must disable the legacy per-user multifactor authentication. THAT’S WHAT WAS MISSING

I connected to Microsof365 admin center and disabled per-user MFA (You can run a PowerShell script as well), after that, all tested users successfully connected to the VM.

You can check this post : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/devices/howto-vm-sign-in-azure-ad-windows#mfa-sign-in-method-required

Hope this helps you.

Just an update I believe this is what resolved the problem.

I had to enable the PKU2U local policy on both client and VM.

See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/security-policy-settings/network-security-allow-pku2u-authentication-requests-to-this-computer-to-use-online-identities for more details.

Azure Virtual Desktop — sign in failed

I want to set up Azure Virtual Desktop and everything is deployed but there is no possibility to log in. Created the host pool, Desktop Application Group and a workspace, then added users to the DAG and gave them the «Desktop Virtualization User» IAM role in the application group resource.

My domain controller is hosted in Azure with Azure AD Domain Services. When I try to log in to the virtual desktop using the web client: https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/index.html, I can log in via Microsoft, I can see the workspace and the session host, however connect to it and enter my credentials, I get the error: Sign in failed. Please check your username and password and try again.

The credentials are fine — I’ve tried on multiple different accounts. Connecting using the Azure provided RDP client does not work as well. What am I missing here? I’ve followed dozens of tutorials, watched dozens of youtube videos on this topic and it seems so simple, yet in my case it is not working at all.

I’ve reseted the passwords for the users, still no luck.

Are there any logs you could share for further hints?

You can also try logging in using the DOMAINusername format.

@RobertFlisak-0347
It sounds like you’re having/had the same issues as I did. This Microsoft article helped point me in the right direction regarding MFA and Conditional Access policies.

Issue – AVD could not connect to session desktop

I have seen this exact error “couldn’t connect to session desktop” many times and a couple of AVD PoC testers raised this issue.

Error Message – Oops, we couldn’t connect to “Session Desktop” – we couldn’t connect to the remote PC because the admin has restricted the type of logon that you can use. Ask your admin or tech support for help.

Fix AVD Could not Connect to Session Desktop | Admin has Restricted the Type of Logon

Cause of AVD Admin has Rejected Type of Login Error

Well, the cause of this admin has restricted the type of logon error when you try to connect to session host in AVD is mainly because of ignorance of the end-user. What? Yes of course. This is why I highlighted in the first paragraph of this post that I have seen this issue mostly with PoC/Test environments.

In PoC or Test environment, the test users might have more than one user accounts to test and certify different scenarios. This error occurs when:

  • User Logs into AVD Web client with a user ID (for example – [emailprotected]).
  • Click on Remote Desktop Icon to logon to session desktop/remote PC.
  • The user ([emailprotected]) will get prompted to re-enter the user name and password (domain-level authentication).
  • But because of user error or ignorance – The user enters a different user name (anoop2@htmdforum.com) and password.
  • Click on Submit button.

Fix AVD Couldn’t Connect to Session Desktop | Admin has Restricted the Type of Logon

As mentioned earlier, I will cover the troubleshooting steps to resolve the common issue unable to RDP VM using Azure AD credentials. If you want to RDP a VM that is in Azure with Azure AD credentials, you need to ensure the required settings are in place.

Suppose that you are connecting with Remote Desktop (RDP) to an Azure AD joined computer with a user account. The connection we want to establish is to an Azure AD joined computer, logging on with an account from Azure AD.

Network Requirements

To enable Azure AD authentication for your Windows VMs in Azure, you need to ensure your VMs network configuration permits outbound access to the following endpoints over TCP port 443:

For Azure Global

  • https://enterpriseregistration.windows.net – For device registration.
  • http://169.254.169.254 – Azure Instance Metadata Service endpoint.
  • https://login.microsoftonline.com – For authentication flows.
  • https://pas.windows.net – For Azure RBAC flows.

For Azure Government

  • https://enterpriseregistration.microsoftonline.us – For device registration.
  • http://169.254.169.254 – Azure Instance Metadata Service.
  • https://login.microsoftonline.us – For authentication flows.
  • https://pasff.usgovcloudapi.net – For Azure RBAC flows.

Long ago, Microsoft announced Azure AD authentication to Windows Virtual Machines (VMs) in Azure giving you the ability to manage and control who can access a VM.

The Azure AD login for Windows VM in Azure needs to be manually enabled. You can enable this option while creating a new Virtual Machine in Azure. With this option enabled you can use your corporate AD credentials to login to Windows VMs in Azure.

If you are creating a new VM in Azure and you want to Log in using Azure AD credentials, you must enable the Login with Azure AD option.

There are two ways to enable Azure AD login for a VM in Azure.

  1. You can enable in Azure Portal while creating a VM.
  2. You can also use the Azure Cloud Shell experience when creating a Windows VM or for an existing Windows VM.

In the Azure portal, on the Create a Virtual machine window, select Management and under Azure AD, select Login with Azure AD. With this option enabled, you can log in to the VM using the Azure AD credentials.
