So for some reason when I loaded up a project that I worked on just a few days ago, the message of «one or more Kontakt instances cannot be recalled correctly, perhaps due to missing content.» When I click ok, the project resumes loading, but then another message pops up saying «The project could not be loaded due to unknown reasons.»
The project is like wiped. All of the patterns and automation clips are gone from the playlist, all of the effects on the mixer tracks have disappeared, (but for some reason the changes to the volume I did are still there). All of my patterns and recordings are there, but the arrangement and mixing I did are gone.
I haven’t installed or updated anything from native access for months up until these error messages popped up. After looking online, I looked for any updates I needed (I didn’t have any), I tried reinstalling everything I have installed, and everything else people said to do. Apparently a ‘missing files’ popup is supposed to show on the kontakt instance that is having trouble recalling, but I looked at all 4 of the kontakts I have on the project and none of them have that. They all work fine.
Can anyone offer a solution for this? The project was working completely fine just the other day. All of my stuff is up to date in updates, and all of my other projects with Kontakt on them are working fine.

Kontakt issues when moving to new computer
I’ve installed Mixcraft and related projects to a new computer.
In the projects where I use Kontakt (Chris Hein horns in particular) — when I open the project I get this message:
The state of some Kontakt instances cannot be recalled correctly.
Please open any Kontakt instance to resolve the problem
So I go to EACH instrument that uses Kontakt and I click on the «keyboard» and icon and it’s set to Kontakt VST3; when I click on «show» it gives a «content missing» dialog box. I’ve tried to use that to resolve the problem but nothing I do seems to work,, But this does:
Click on «Ignore for now» — then click «locate» under the library content not found message. I then hit Search Filesytem and That resolves the issues. It finds Chris Hein Horns (the only Kontakt VST I have).
Everything is Ok. I save the project.
But when I open it — the very same thing happens and I have to do it again. I suspect the issue is where I hit «ignore for now». That is, it only fixed it then but not permanently.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do instead?

I think I found an answer to this; not perfect but at least what I’ve done stays persistent after saving the project.

One last post on this — unfortunately while it worked fine after saving and reopening, it now crashed Mixcraft each time I try to open it again. Actually, it’s now stuck at 95% opening and won’t finish.
Obviously I have no idea what the issue is (likely a combination of Kontakt and I guess still not knowing the «right» way to move files.
Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time to debug this and I realize there is no way anyone here can help. Very frustrating and it’s not the first time I’ve had such frustrations. Seriously considering if an alternative to Mixcraft might actually be worth the money. Time is money too.
Long time user but not a frequent user given my two jobs. I want to jump back in and it’s frustrating that it might take hours just to get back to where I was.

Hi Bill
Greg recently helped us with a VST3 issue on the new EZDrummer 3. He invited us to try the latest beta verion (470) and it solved the problems, and more besides.
If you haven’t already, try downloading v470 from here https://acoustica.com/mixcraft/support/beta
Keep on trackin’

Appreciate the response; worth a try — but when I try to install, it asks for my registration code; I enter it (I have Pro Studio) and it tells me it’s for the wrong product and won’t let me proceed.
The site says just install on top of pro studios, but apparently I can’t.

Hi,
As was mentioned in your other post, just install it as a trial. If you’re registered, you’ll still be registered.
This update helps with all sorts of VST3 problems, but it won’t fix everything. If problems persist, sending in your Mixcraft log file would help.

Just to be sure before I do something wrong —
I need to install the trial version of the Non-pro Studio version, but somehow I’ll still have the pro studio version but with that which this build fixes?

That’s correct. Just install into the same folder you’re using now for pro studio.

OK — install worked fine and I’m on MX 9, Pro Studio, build 470.
Unfortunately that did not solve my particular issue. I suspect strongly it’s a Kontakt issue — that I did something wrong. I have the player, I installed Chris Hein Horns library the way Chris himself told me; I CAN get to it by making modifications — but when I save that, and reopen the project, I’m back to having to tell it where the sound files are.
I’ve tried a couple different ways — one of them rendered the project «corrupted» and I didn’t follow good practice and write down the steps I followed each time.
I don’t’ blame Mixcraft — it’s just disappointing that commonly used third part applications / tools can cause so much trouble. Again, not the fault of Mixcraft, but I can’t believe I’m the only one who has ever upgraded to a better machine and had Kontakt and sound files that use it.
MAYBE consider a sticky thread «Upgrading to a new machine? Read this first». nd let the community post suggestions to it.

Last update —
It is — as suspected — Kontakt.
I forgot that Native Instruments has an app called Native Access that manages the related software. I realized it by uninstalling Kontakt Player and reinstalling; they said to go into that app to activate it; in so doing I saw that Chris Hein Horns was not activated on that machine; a step I didn’t remember needed to be done. Having done that, Chris Hein Horns now shows up when I choose the Kontakt VST in Mixcraft
That fixed one of my projects (though I have to say it’s VERY quirky when there are multiple instances of Kontakt; that is, when it’s chosen for each of several tracks. And that quirkiness is the reason I suspect one of my projects got corrupted.
II do have a backup of that project on my old computer that I have not abandoned yet so I could hook it up again and try it over.
Anyway — Kontakt is the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to come back and post the solution you found.
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareNative Instruments
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENative Instruments

I have Unified Rigid Audio’s Synferno library which contains all 350 patches.
To use this you need to own Unify, full Kontakt 6 (updated to 6.6) and Rigid Audio’s Synferno library for Kontakt.
NOTE: Kontakt was updated on 6 July 2021 to v6.6 and this version now includes the ability to specify a folder for non-player libraries like RA Synferno. You specify the folder location in Kontakt Options for your non-player libraries e.g. mine is S:Kontakt Instruments, and then check the box underneath.

This should mean that you can use my Unified Synferno Factory library without needing to use symbolic links.
Download my updated guru file BY CLICKING HERE. (Updated 14th July 21)
I have kept the patch names/numbers the same but have added the «standard set» of Aux effects and Master Effects to each one. Each patch contains 4 layers in Kontakt and I have set up ComboBox/MIDIFilter so that each octave of my 49 key controller plays the first octave of each layer. If you don’t need this then bypass ComboBox or set it up as you like for your controller.
Instructions:
- Download my guru file and drag/drop it onto the Unify UI.
- The Unify patch database should rebuild automatically, but if not then click the lightning-bolt icon.
Rigid Audio do a number of great libraries which are often on sale for around £5 or less (also remember to use code GIVEME10 for a further 10% reduction). I have been collecting them for a while so it’s always worth checking for sales.

@f-aime Hope you enjoy it! One thing I really like with this in Unify is how easy it is to experiment with combining multiple Synferno patches e.g. try 005, 006 & 007. Also to combine Synferno with other instruments.
I’m planning on Unifying some other Rigid Audio libraries. I have StompBox, Viego, Acoustic Isolation, Angus, Aquiver, Felicity, Granulat, Metawave, Nylonist, Orbital, Outer Space Bundle (Ghost, Space and Space2).

FYI Synferno and 16 other RA libraries are on sale at PluginBoutique at the moment for £3.95/$5 each.
https://www.pluginboutique.com/deals/show?sale_id=7798
It also includes Hypernode which is not often on sale.
Note: these are only for the FULL version of Kontakt.

Is there a solution in Kontakt 6.5x for this type of Unified library? Will Guru Link work on it?

Is there a solution in Kontakt 6.5x for this type of Unified library? Will Guru Link work on it?
If @zinct has created the unified patches while the underlying Kontakt library folder is placed in
- Windows: C:UsersPublicDocumentsPlugInGuru Links
- Mac: /Users/Shared/PlugInGuru Links
then Guru Link will work, by creating a symbolic link in that location on the end-user’s computer, to wherever they chose to put the Kontakt library.
However, a unified library created on a Windows PC will not automatically work on a Mac, nor vice versa, because the path structure is different. If the unified patches were saved with Kontakt 6.4.2 or earlier, Unify’s built-in batch processing function will allow it to be rebuilt on the other platform.
For unified patches created and saved with Kontakt 6.5 or later, we have no general solution yet. Our contacts at Native Instruments have suggested a possible future addition to Kontakt which might solve this, but we have no idea when (or even if) this might appear.
I encourage all interested Unify users to contact NI support (via the Kontakt section of their web site) to explain that this is a problem, and that a solution would be welcome ASAP. Ask politely that your message be relayed to Mr. Elpiniki Pappa, Product Manager, Development Platforms, as he is aware of this issue and likely interested in related user feedback.

These patches were created before Kontakt 6.5 was out and folk were still able to use the batch convert facility in Unify.
My Kontakt instrument for the above is located in S:Kontakt InstrumentsRA Synferno on my system, so maybe a symbolic link to that location would solve the issue.
I must admit that I am not a fan of symbolic links and have stopped converting non player libraries for now due to this issue and I am focussing more on Player libraries like Pharlight which don’t have this issue.
Thank you for the reminder to contact NI support which I will definitely do as this absolute referencing issue has bugged me for a long time even before Unify.

Thanks for the update. I’m not happy about the situation with Kontakt, nor am I super keen on symlinks.
What the NI people suggested was to allow Kontakt users to enter a base path (I suggested expanding this to a list of paths) which Kontakt would automatically check for any missing content. This would make symlinks unnecessary, but work the same. Heaven only knows if they’ll ever deliver it, though. Lots of polite whinging by users might help.

Native Instruments updated Kontakt to version 6.6 on Tuesday and this version now includes the ability to specify a folder for non-player libraries like RA Synferno. You specify the folder location for your non-player libraries e.g. mine is S:Kontakt Instruments and check the box underneath.

This should mean that you can use my Unified Synferno Factory library without needing to use symbolic links.
I will re-upload the library shortly and you can test the new Kontakt functionality if you like.

It does not seem to work for me from Unify. If I go into Kontakt, I can load any of the patches and they load properly (after inputting the location into Kontakt setup). But they don’t load in Unify from your unified patches. I get a message that says:
The state of some Kontakt instances cannot be recalled correctly.
Please open any Kontakt instance to resolve the problem.
If I do that, I get the good old dialog that asks me for the folder to search, etc.
I suspect that it’s because your folder that was specified in Kontakt is different than mine.

Thanks for checking.
There’s one thing that isn’t clear to me as yet, as I haven’t found any documentation for this feature. That is whether the patches have to be re-saved in v6.6 Kontakt. I had assumed that, as the problem occurs when the recipient tries to load patches then they would need to be running v6.6 with their non-player folder location set up, but the fact that they were saved in v6.5 doesn’t matter. However, it appears that might not be the case.
One other thing that occurs to me is if your Synferno folder is named something different to mine. Mine is called «RA Synferno» so the full path is «S:Kontakt InstrumentsRA Synferno». I notice some of the other Rigid Audio library folders are named «RA_name» — note the underscore instead of a space. I also found a file named Release Notes.txt in the RA Synferno folder which indicates that I have version 1.1 of Synferno if that makes any difference.
If you are happy to re check I can upload a version with say one patch re saved in v6.6 and see if that makes any difference. If that works then I will have to re Unify the whole thing again using K6.6 when saving.
I also Unified MegaMagic Guitars this week using K6.6 and sent it to John so I’ll be curious to see how that worked out.

Another test here!
So, after noticing that ALL of my other 12 Rigid Audio libraries are in folders called RA_NAME, I have now renamed my Synferno folder to be in line with the others. So my Synferno folder is now at «S:Kontakt InstrumentsRA_SYNFERNO» which I suspect is where it should have been all along (please confirm whether yours is also here?).
I have then batch resaved the library in K6.6 so that it works within Kontakt in that renamed folder, and then created another Unify test library called «Synferno Test 2» below containing just the first patch «001 — 8Eight Zone».
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1o85909g71m6iqg/Synferno%20Test%202.guru?dl=0
Please try that and see if it works.
Once we have a setup that works I will re-create the full library in Unified format.
Thanks again for the feedback as, without it, Unifying any other non-player Kontakt libraries becomes a bit of a guessing game.

Yes, my Synferno folder is E:Native InstrumentsRA_SYNFERNO.
I installed test2, and the single patch worked fine, first try with no manual intervention. I had created a symlink, but I deleted that before the test. I also deleted the previous RA_SYNFERNO unify library that you uploaded before the test.
Looks like you’ve got the method down!

Good news, thanks!
Now we have a working method there are quite a few other Kontakt libraries to Unify!
I also picked up a few more Rigid Audio libraries in the sale on their website.
However, I noticed that they don’t have Hypernode but it is on sale at PluginBoutique and is well worth the small outlay for anyone who doesn’t have it.

I have

RA_PAD_THERAPY
RA_SYNFERNO
If you need help with any of them, and you have a script that would only need minor mods for them, I would be happy to help.

Thanks, these are the ones I now own …
RA_ACOUSTIC_ISOLATION
RA_ANGUS
RA_AQUIVER
RA_FELICITY
RA_GRANULAT
RA_HYPERNODE
RA_LIMERENCE
RA_METAWAVE
RA_NYLONIST
RA_ORBITAL
RA_OUTER_SPACE_BUNDLE
— RA_GHOST
— RA_SPACE
— RA_SPACE2
RA_PAD_THERAPY
RA_PERCEPTION
RA_RETROCADE
RA_STOMPBOX
RA_SYNFERNO
RA_VIEGO
I am tempted to do Hypernode next.
Maybe you could do one of the others?
I noticed when I unzipped Limerence yesterday that it had an additional folder called «Limerence» below «RA_LIMERENCE» with the content below that. I left it like that and it works without batch resaving — just wondered if yours is the same? Of course, we could always put the content below RA_LIMERENCE, delete the Limerence folder and batch resave to keep it in line with the other libraries, but then, for sharing the Unified library others would have to do the same. I guess this just means that when sharing Unified non-player libraries the full path of the library content also needs to be stated so that recipients can change theirs to match and avoid errors.
I have sent you my script for RA Synferno.

BTW, how do you paste a graphic into a message here?

Ah that’s interesting; I’ll set mine up the same way.
For pasting a graphic, I usually upload the graphic to imgur and then paste the direct link here.

With the VI Player, you should save a VI preset when you make tweaks (I do because it doesn’t seem that changes aren’t saved with the VEPro instance). Also save the VEPro instance where you are hosting Synchron Strings/VI Player just to be sure the correct preset is loaded when VEPro loads. If you are running VEPro outside of Cubase, I think, even when coupled, Cubase will only save the reference to the VEPro instances it is connected to. I use VEPro decoupled and preserved, so I don’t know for sure, but when coupled, I don’t think Cubase saves any information about the VIs hosted in that instance. I am positive Cubase doesn’t save specific VI parameters, so even if you tweak Kontakt 5 in VEPro (outside of Cubase), those changes would have to be saved with the Kontakt instrument or multi. Hopefully I understood the problem correctly and that helps. |

Disclaimer — I usually use decoupled instances. So maybe I am missing something. I just tried the following exact steps, and things worked as expected for me:
Is this the behavior you wanted but were missing? or is there something different I should try? |

Having the same problem here. Using Bitwig with VEPro. Discovered a workaround. After changing an instrument inside a VEPro instance, I open the VEPro plugin window in Bitwig and rename the «instance name» by klicking on the blue box (e.g. I rename «Piano1.0» into «Piano1.1). Now when I save the song, the changes inside the VEPro instance are also saved. By the way: I don’t have this problem when I use VEPro inside Studio 1. There all changes are saved correctly. |
