First of all, I have a Non-GOTY version of AA installed which runs perfectly. The only reason I installed the Steam Version is so that I don’t need to put the disc to run the game all the time. I have everything updated. Hell I finished Arkham City too. But this game fails to load after I click on Start (where Batman is seen standing on a building). I even deleted all the saves, yet the problem persists. Yes I did try to import the old save games, but that also failed. I even deleted the saves. Still nothing solved. I really don’t understand what’s going on.

Ok I figured out how to avoid getting that game crash and error message. When I started Batman AA and waited till Batman is seen standing on the building and the screen shows start game, I alt-tabbed and when to the folder in Steam where the game’s save files are located. For me it’s F:/Steam/userdata/(MY USER ID NUMBER)/35140/Remote. I then deleted everything within that Remote folder which included the save files in *.sgd format and the profile.bin file. After that I alt-tabbed again to get into the game and clicked on start. Then the game loaded but it showed «Corrupt Save File» there, so then all I did was deleted each of them and created a new save. Game loaded with no problem whatsoever. The sad thing however is that I have to redo the game all over again. The GFWL-Stripper software failed for me to convert my old save games for AA, and the hex editor thing also failed to convert my old save games for AA. I am installing Arkham City GOTY version at the moment and will see if the hex editor or save game converter works in its case once it is installed. Hope my info helps many of those who are still facing the crash.

Let me also add that when I installed Batman AA: GOTY, the game did crash even though I didn’t use the old save game converter etc. That is what bugs me. A fresh install with a crash is Steam’s problem. It seems like it since I still have the GFWL version installed and it runs smoothly.

You know what, forget what I said earlier. I played the game yesterday for two straight hours after doing what I mentioned earlier. Now that I wanted to play it again today, the same bu**sh** error message appears after clicking on start game where Batman is seen standing. WTF is this?! This is what I get:

Has anyone found a way to fix this, i bought it during the sale weekend installed it today and the game simply refuses to launch, i avoided this completely due to GFWL and now that is gone i happily picked this game up, now im hitting a wall trying to get it to work, any help or insight about this would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been trying all day to figure out how to fix this. I played for about 20 mins the other day, got up to the point where you’re tracking Gordon and stopped playing. I went to play again today and I was getting this error.
FINALLY I figured out how to fix it (for me). None of the uninstalling/reinstalling directx or Nvidia Physx or NET Framework worked for me.
What I did was go to the bmlauncher.exe in my steam folder
(C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonBatman Arkham Asylum GOTYBinaries) >Right click>Compatibility>check ‘run in compatibility mode for’ Windows XP SP3
I launched the game and it is working now.
As far as I can tell the problem has to do with the new NET Framework (which I just installed last night), so hopefully it will be fixed (officially) sometime soon.
Hopefully this works for you!

k found a solution that worked for me moving documents back to its default location didnt worked, but creating a new user in my computer and running the game from there allowed the game to create the necessary folders inside the «guest» documents folder, which i procceded to copy to my designated main documents folder recreating the same line of commands D:Square EnixBatman Arkham Asylum GOTY. and all the folders inside of it created on the guest account, that managed to get the game going. hopefully is of any help to some of you guys

I just deleted my ‘Square Enix’ folder from my ‘Documents’ folder, and the game finally started right up!
I am on Windows 7 64bit.. I suspect that the issue is the saved game and config files that are stored in the subfolders.

This fix works for me, after trying countless solutions this was the only one that got the game running. Hope it works for you. Very simple fix.
Deleting save0 seems to work. It usually crashes when leaving the Visitor Center.
My 100% save0 keeps coming back, most likely due to cloud linking. It would probably stop if it is disabled.
I found a fix for my self, with the exact same issue as stated above. Go to this link and download this, make sure that the bing tool bar is unchecked, because nobody likes bing anyways. lol

I then went here (Whatever drive you have it downloaded toSteamLibrarysteamappscommonBatman Arkham Asylum GOTYredist(I just clicked on browse local files in the games Steam properties, by right clicking it in my Steam Games Library)
From there, double click and install PhysX_9.08.14_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware, and vcredist_x86. Then, go into the DirectX folder and scroll down until you see DXSETUP. Run and install that, and the game should work. Please let me know if it worked. Lots of head ache went into finding this fix.

This worked perfectly. I didn’t do the first step, downloading the DX runtime web installer, or whatever it was, as the page specified it was for Windows 7 (and older) while I’m running Windows 10. But installing the PhysX software, the Visual C redistribution, and the DXSETUP within that directory was apparently enough to fix my issue.

It says General Protection Fault. Missing nvcuda.dll, missing some other dll, I dont know because the way your interface is set up its impossible to type stuff into this box while the error message is setup. So good luck trying to fix my problem when you make it impossible for me to tell you what it is.
Refund my game. Nobody else buy it until they fix my problem. There is NO REASON why it should work yesterday and then randomly stop working today.

I bought this game 3 days ago. After I installed and started the game, I opened a new profile and tuned the brightness. Right after I pressed the continue and it introduced the saving process icon to me, the game crashed.
It says General Protection Fault. Missing nvcuda.dll, missing some other dll.
Mainly nvcuda.dll and APEX_release.dll.
I have reinstalled my Nvidia drivers but it cannot be solved.

So I was having the same issue and tried quite a few of the other solutions I saw people posting with no results.
Finally I turned on «Show PhysX Visual Indicator» under the 3D setting on the NVIDIA control panel and when I booted the game up I noticed that it was trying to load PhysX through the CPU even though in my NVIDIA settings I had it set to the GPU. I exited the game and set PhysX to load through the CPU instead and restarted the game and voila it loaded without a problem.

I changed PhysX processing to CPU and it ran just fine. I didn’t have this problem until after restarting the game after the first Scarecrow encounter. I still had the problem after turning off PhysX in the game options, but changing PhysX to the CPU fixed it!

Batman arkham asylum general protection fault windows 10
Okay, so I got myself a new gaming rig with Windows 10 on it, and I’m having some trouble even getting past the start screen.
Soon as I press Start, it hangs and then crashes immediately, no matter what my settings: tried setting PhysX to the CPU as well, and that made no difference.
A lot of apparent problems with the «ShippingPC-BMGame.exe» executable, but all pretty vague as to what the actual problem is.
Can you show the whole crash output?
Physx should either be set to Auto-select or the GPU of your choice.
There are a few reports of physx related issues when the legacy physx that came with the game is not installed. You can have multiple versions of physx installed concurrently, so even if you have the latest NVIDIA drivers and/or physx system software you should install the older version that was distributed with the game.
Beyond that do all the usual, upgrade/reinstall drivers and redistributables stuff.

Doesn’t work with auto-select, it seems, nor with anything else.
But I’m not sure PhysX is even the problem here: in fact, I don’t know what actually is since the error is worded so vaguely.
Upgraded my video drivers today, installed the redistributable stuff in the AA folder (as far as was possible), but that didn’t seem to make much of a difference either.
I can’t get at the file. I don’t use dropbox but the link doesn’t show me a picture, it just goes to my own very not used dropbox.
I wouldn’t assume physx either unles you see a physx file implicated in the crash.

I am on Windows 10 too and I find when you start the game from your start menu not through steams main screen, you have to click on the main desktop to close the start menu to start the game without faults.

The whole «filename not found» is a bit misleading, it doesn’t mean a file’s missing, it means that can’t find the debugging symbols needed to tell us more about what the code was doing.
Outside of giving very blade basic «upgrade/reinstall stuff/do cache checks» I can’t give you any other suggestions except maybe to contact WB support and hope they actually have some sort of clue. (not saying this to be rude, but in my own experience their frontline support was pretty much useless, told me to do things I explicitly stated i already did, and then quietly dropped support when they ran out of ideas and wouldn’t respond to me anymore.)

Have 24 hrs of game time in. Got a glitch when going into the glass house, nothing worked and nothing in there and couldnt reload or get out. Kippd, never uninstall and reinstall unless you know from reference that doing so will fix a specific problem; more often than not it’s a waste of time. Instead patch and verify your game, which should be done with any Steam game immediately after installing and before playing:
