Go to your Character Select screen. Press the AddOns button. Top right corner of the window that opens is a place where you can specify how many MB to use. Try just doubling it to start.

World of Warcraft is still one of the best-looking games out there. Sure the retail version of the game is supposed to look great, but if you take a look at the classics of the world of warcraft, you will simply be amazed.
Even though the game has been out there for a long time and constantly updating on a daily basis still cannot perform well if you don’t have a good gaming pc.
Not exactly saying it’s the developer’s fault, it’s more like games, and gamers are demanding a lot of graphical improvements in games nowadays. So to keep up with the expectations, blizzard is delivering updates that are only capable of running on a good gaming pc.

How much memory does WoW use?
World of Warcraft requires 4GB of RAM if you want to play the game in the lowest possible settings. However, if you have an integrated GPU along with your processor, then 8 GB of ram is needed to match the requirements. Also recommended RAM needed for wow is 8GB.
It is quite understandable if you have a low-end PC. But World of Warcraft still can be run on your Desktop with ease with some tips and tricks.
But if you are facing memory issues even if you have 8GB of ram, don’t you worry; in this guideline, I will explain how you can fix this error.
So keep reading till the end to get your desired fix.
Also, check out our separate post on WOW best starting zone.
Why does my computer keep saying not enough memory?
It is common for the “Your Computer is running out of memory” issue to appear when there are several processes running or when your applications are utilizing a large amount of memory.
You may come across the following error message on a regular basis: “Not enough memory available to finish this operation.” “Please close one or more apps to boost available memory before attempting the task again,” or “There is insufficient space on the disk(s) to finish this operation,” respectively.
It might be because the extended partition of your computer is restricted, making it impossible to add another disk partition even if there is empty space, or because the RAM is not being used properly.
Either your computer doesn’t have enough physical RAM installed, or the RAM that is currently installed on your computer has been utilized up by other applications, rendering it inaccessible at the time.
Also, don’t forget to check out best 4800MHz DDR4 RAMs for gaming freaks.
Similarly, When you launch World of Warcraft, you might be out of memory; that is why your computer can longer launch the program. Now you might be thinking I have a good amount of ram according to the wow requirements; still, my game is not launching.
See, even if you have a good amount of ram installed on your PC, you might still be out of RAM. 10 google chrome tabs can eat alone 8GB of ram. Also, in your background, if you have programs running like Spotify, Netflix, and other media platforms, it will consume a lot of RAM. On the other hand, if all you game launchers, for example, Origin, Steam, Rockstar launcher running in the background even on that case 50 percent of your RAM will be allocated to those applications.
So yes, if you have applications running in the background, that will eat a lot of your ram and give you difficulties in launching another program or game.
A simple solution would be to close all the applications that are not needed while you are gaming. Stop all the game launchers while you are playing wow except battle.net because you will be needing that throughout your wow gameplay.
You can close chrome tabs and music streaming platforms. Also, do keep in mind gaming streaming platforms take a lot of RAM as well. So if you are not using it might as well stop it from running in the background.
If you don’t want to stop them one by one, just give it a clean reboot. It will help you up.
Now we will discuss the solutions more elaborately.
Check out our experts tested and reviewed the best Aura Sync compatible RAM for gaming freaks.
How do I fix not enough memory?
The fix of this problem is quite easy, not at all complicated. Before moving into that, it will be better if you take a look at World of Warcraft requirements. World of Warcraft requires you to have at least a minimum of 4GB RAM. So if you are trying to run the game in 2GB of ram, there is no way you will be able to play the retail version of the game on your PC. However, if you want to play the MMORPG, you can play the classic version of the game.
In order to play World of Warcraft Classics, you must meet these requirements:
Processor: AMD Phenom X3 8750 or Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
RAM: 2 GB of RM
OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Windows 10 64-bit operating system
GPU: GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB or AMD Radeon HD 4870 or Intel HD Graphics4000
Sizer: 5 GB of storage space is available.
Now, this is the configuration you need to play the classics that came out in 2003. If you want to play the re-release of the classics, you have to have 4GB of ram.
Coming back to the topic, as I discussed earlier, if you have applications running in your background, then that might be the case of this issue. However, many other probabilities can lead to this problem as well.
Let’s not take any more of your time and directly jump into the solutions.

Here are the steps to fix the world of warcraft not enough memory:
1. Reduce Game Settings
Low-end PC will suffer a lot to run world of warcraft with ease. In official notes from blizzard to solve this issue, they have included reducing the View Distance option in the in-game System menu. This will reduce the pressure on your computer’s resources and allow you to conserve RAM.
Here are the steps to configure wow display settings:
Launch World of Warcraft.
- Go to settings.
- Open graphics settings.
- Set display mode to your screen size.
- Remove anti-aliasing and vertical sync.
- Set the resolution level to a maximum of 90%.

Now, this way, even if you have 4GB of RAM, your game will run with ease. You will get more FPS while playing the game. And there will be less lag while encountering players from PVP mode.
Check out the comparison between WOW VS WOW Classic.
2. Close Background Applications
Another solution that has helped a lot of gamers out there is to stop all the background programs running while playing the game. You can either stop all the processes one by one or use the task manager to stop all the programs.
Here are the steps to stop background applications:
- Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete at the same time.
- Click on task manager.
- Go to processes.
- Tap on more details to see all the applications.
- Close the applications.

Stop all the programs that are not needed while you are playing the game. But do not close the necessary ones to keep the operating system running. You will free a lot of your RAM if you close all the background applications. If you don’t want to close the applications one by one, you can reboot your pc.
Also, check out our separate post on can you play WOW solo.
3. Reset User Interface
In their official release note, Blizzard also stated to reset the user interface if you face not enough memory problems.
Here are the steps to reset the user interface:
- Close World of Warcraft.
- Uninstall the addons manager.
- Go to the wow game directory.
- Click on the wow retail game.
- Rename cache, interface, and wtf to Cacheold, interfaceold, and Wtfold.
- Relaunch the game.
This way, even if you are resetting your old addons, you will still have access to them, so if you want to go back to the old settings, you can by renaming the folders. Hopefully, this will fix your problem.
Follow our guide to know about WOW ground mounts.
4. Install 64-bit Operating System
Please update to a 64-bit version of Windows if you are presently using a 32-bit version. As a result, your computer will be able to utilize much more RAM, and the problem should be permanently resolved.
Here are the steps to install a 64-bit operating system:
- Insert the windows drive.
- Restart your pc.
- Press any key to go to the installation process.
- Select clean installation of windows.
- Choose the language.
- Select 64-bit(x64) architecture.
- Wait for the installation process to be done.
After the clean installation, launch your wow game to see if it’s working. Now keep in mind you will only be able to install 64-bit windows if your processor supports it.
Here’s a complete guide on Wow mounts tracker.
How do I make WoW use less memory?
You can set your game settings to low, which will free up a lot of your RAM. Also, disabling add-ons will use less memory than usual.
Turning off the shadows is recommended. There should be no sun-shafts in use. Reduce the amount of water detail. Anti-Aliasing software should not be used. Reduce the amount of ground detail and clutter to 1.
Set the view distance to five meters. Make certain that projected textures and particle density are both set to their maximum values. The rest may be turned off to a large extent. You may also utilize the sliding scale for resolution if that is what is required. If you place it at, say, 90 percent, that represents a significant decline in performance with minimal discernible loss of detail.
Also, check out our separate post on how much is WOW per month.
Final Thoughts

Are you getting a “World of Warcraft not enough memory” error while launching the game? If Yes, then no need to worry. Here in this article, we will provide you with the best working solutions that you can apply to get rid of this error in no time.
Well, talking about this error, it usually occurs when you do not have enough RAM to support the game. So, if such is the scenario in your case then try dealing with the situation by checking your RAM. If found less than the game requirement, try fixing the error issue by expanding your RAM.
How Much RAM Does World of Warcraft Require on Android?
| Minimum RAM Requirement: | 4 GB |
| Recommended RAM Requirement: | 8 GB |
WoW (World of Warcraft) generally requires 4GB RAM if you are playing in the lowest game settings. However, the recommended RAM for World of Warcraft is 8GB. One must have 8GB RAM to support the WoW gameplay.
Why Am I Getting World of Warcraft Not Enough Memory Issue?
It is already mentioned that low RAM is the main culprit triggering this error issue. However, there are a few other reasons also that might trigger such error on WoW that we have discussed below:
- High game settings- If you set the game settings to a higher resolution then you may get into this error problem. High game settings will increase the load on the game thereby ending up giving this error message. Here, you can lower your in-game settings to continue the gameplay without interruptions.
- Running too Many Background applications- Another reason that causes this error to arise on woW is background applications. If there are too many apps are working in the background while launching the game then it might be possible that you will encounter this problem. Running too many background tasks may eat up your maximum RAM thereby flashing not enough memory WoW Hereby, try fixing the issue by quitting background applications.
- Corrupted installation game files- If somehow your installation got interrupted or remained incomplete, it results in game file corruption that further triggers this error. Hereby, when such is the case found behind the error occurrence, try dealing with the situation by reinstalling the game.
So, these are a few possible reasons that also lead you to this error. Now as you are aware of the causes let’s proceed with the solutions in a detailed form.
Solution 1: Check for the RAM Requirement
It has been already mentioned that low RAM is the main culprit behind this error problem. So, the first thing you need to do is to check for your RAM on your Android device. If found low or less than the recommended requirement then you can do nothing except change your device to the new one that has higher RAM. As Android devices don’t have such privilege to increase or expand RAM like your Laptop/PC.
Solution 2: Reboot Your Device
Another solution you can apply to fix not enough memory resources are available to process this command WoW is by rebooting your Android device. Sometimes running your device for a long time may result in giving such errors. Therefore, restarting your device is worth giving a chance. As it starts your device afresh thereby fixing temporary issues.
For this you just need to follow the simple steps guide below:

- Next, tap the Restart option.

- Now, wait for your device to reboot.
Once rebooted, launch the World of Warcraft app again and check for the WoW not enough memory error.
Solution 3: Lower Your In-game Settings
Sometimes high in-game settings might trouble you with this error on World of Warcraft. Hereby, lowering your in-game settings would help you to fix this error issue. Running the game on high graphics settings requires up to 16 GB of RAM which can be the error cause. So lowering the game settings according to your device’s RAM can actually fix the error problem.
Follow the below steps to lower your in-game settings:
- Launch the World of Warcraft game app on your Android device.
- Next, visit the Settings section and select Graphics
- Now, here set the display mode as per your screen size.
- Then, clear vertical sync and anti-aliasing.

- Make the resolution level max to 90%.
- Lastly, save the settings and relaunch the game to verify for the not enough memory WoW
Solution 4: Quit Background Running Applications
If you are running too many background applications simultaneously while launching the WoW game then you may encounter this error problem. Running too many apps at the same time may eat up your maximum RAM further causing the World of Warcraft app to flash this error issue. So, make sure to quit all the background apps while launching the WoW game app to avoid getting into such an error scenario.
Below are the steps to quit background apps on your Android device:
- Firstly, go to Android Settings.

- Secondly, visit the Apps.
- Here, select the running applications one after another and Force stop every app.
Once the background running apps are closed, launch the WoW game app and check for the error problem whether solved or not.
Solution 5: Reset the UI of World of Warcraft
Another effective solution you can try to fix this error problem is by resetting the UI of World of Warcraft. Follow the below guidelines to reset the UI.
- Close the World of Warcraft
- Next, delete all the add-ons manager.
- Visit the World of Warcraft
- Click on the WoW retail game and rename the interface, cache & WTF folder to Interfaceold, cacheold, WTFold.
- Lastly, restart the game application and check for the error issue.
Solution 6: Reinstall the World of Warcraft App
Most times, corrupted game files might end up giving you such error problems. So, somehow if you have an incomplete or interrupted installation of the game then you may encounter World of Warcraft not enough memory problem.
So, when such is the case found, try treating the error problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling the WoW app.
You just need to follow the below instructions for reinstalling the app.
- Firstly, visit the WoW app icon on the home screen of your Android device.
- Once found, long press the icon and select Uninstall.

Why is my UI using so much memory?

This is my current UI. Raid frames are also xperl and quartz cast bar are the only things not shown. Why is the memory usage so high? My UI seems pretty minimalistic compared to some of the other ones I have seen.Last edited by mmocba105e19de; 2010-11-26 at 10:01 AM.

it doesn’t seem minimalistic to me. it seems like the only thing you dont have a mod for is your minimap.
mind telling me a list of all your addons so i could narrow it down or suggest more light weight options? also are all your addons up to date?

You should disable your auctioneer when not using it, it eats alot of memory.
Ohh and also if you dont want to see more than damage/healing done you should replace recount with tiny dps which only uses like 200kb-500kb of your memory

I see:
Titan Panel
Xperl
Cartographer
Recount
Dominos
AtlasLoot
Auctioneer/Disenchant Addon (forget its name).55MB is a lot. I have three times the amount of addons and I have about 20mb. I know FuBar is able to show you individually which addons are taking up what memory. Not sure if you can do that with TitanPanel?

Replace X-perl with Pitbull imo.
Also Recount takes up a lot of space if you do not reset it regularly. So, I would recommend having recount on ‘pause’ if it’s not really needed.
AtlasLooter, do you really need this? You could just type the boss name in google and you instantly get the loot lists.
Prat is also heavy, Chatter which is basically the same uses less MB. Though, not 100% sure about this one
Just noticed the list Robula made above me and it is pretty accurate. So it is of no use for me to go through them all again, really.

Reset Recount, after a night’s raiding without resetting it, my memory usage hovers at about 70-80mb.
It should drop at least a little if you clear it.

Prat is nice, but it does take alot of memory, remove x-pearl and Titan Panel, since they are basically useless, and reset recount whenever you get the chance.

Doom CD PulseOmni CC — use «tullacc» instead http://www.wowinterface.com/download…downCount.html
recount — (should be disabled when you aren’t using it) also «tinydps» is a more lightweight version http://www.wowinterface.com/download…mageMeter.html
prat — «phanx chat» is a more light weight chat mod and has all the same features http://www.wowinterface.com/download…PhanxChat.html
dbm — NEVER have this enabled unless you need it
atlas loot — NEVER have this enabled unless you need it
and as said before if you are using any auction mods disable those as well when you dont need them

Hi, a few pointers for cutting down your memory usage:
1. as mentioned by others: disable auctioneer when you don’t need it
2. dump titanpanel / fubar… SLDataText is a nice lightweight alternative
3. atlasloot: get rid of it. wowhead is your atlasloot and it doesn’t use any resources!
4. gathermate 2: i don’t know this addon but if it’s the same as gatherer you should consider dumping it
5. replace recount with either skada (disable all modules you don’t need) or tinydps
6. replace prat with BasicChatMods.. most lightweight chat mod i knowYou should remember though: performance wise memory usage isn’t very relevant, cpu usage is what matters (although very often there is a correlation between both).

You guys are forgetting the fact that memory usage means little — That number is almost meaningless. You could have 120MB used and it wouldn’t matter. It’s like GS, but even less meaningful.

May be look into getting a LoadManager. It is early days in 4.0.x, so LMs may not be very stable just yet, but in a while after they’ve been updated a couple of times, things can improve.
Maybe switch Recount out for Skada as mentioned previously.

This is what I would replace each with to lower memory:
Xperl — STUF/Shadowed UF (both very customizable and light weight)
Recount — TinyDPS (around 225 KB)
Quartz — Gnosis or AzCastBar
Prat — PhanxChat (if you can live without all the random/unneccesary things prat gives)
Titan Panel — uh. SLDT
DBM — DXE or leave as is
Mik’s scrolling combat text — xCT is good , around 50 KB
Atlas Loot — Don’t Need
Gathermate2 — Don’t Need
Tidy Plates — Headline is only 21.5 KB and its pretty minimalistic
Tiptac — Not a huge fan of, but I also know its hard to find a good tooltip addon.
Dominos — Leave as is
Bagnon — Leave
Mapster — Leave
Omni CC — Leave
Satrina Buff Frames — Leave
Doom CD Pulse — Leave

Now, sorry for asking like «this», but.
Why are you complaining about it using 55Megs of memory?
Do you happen to have a «very» old computer, or? Cause even old computers came with 2GB of memory, and nowadays 4GB is the standard, so i cant see why 55mb’s should be a problem, to be honest.
But, if you do have an old PC with like 1GB of memory, then im able to see you’re issue, and maybe you should think of adding another GB,ram is almost «free» nowadays
.My 10 cents.

Well, your opinion about «pretty minimalistic» can be thrown out of the window right away. You almost replaced everything from your UI apart from the Minimap. I would say minimalistic = Blizz standard UI, with some minor Cooldown/Dmg meters.
Anyways, since i see you like to change it all. Try this: TukUI, lightweight UI replacement for EVERYTHING!.
Also download this extra addon, this allows you to config TukUI in game. Its very lightweight and easy. Its also very customisable.
Enjoy

I run 6GB memory in my machine atm, and I want to have my addon memory as low as possible. Why? Because I can, I tried to play with a 60 MB UI interface and a 1.2MB one (Tukui) and I did notice the difference.
Also.. «Get more memory to solve your addon issues»? Yea.. worst advice so far in this thread. As said before, Recount, Xperl and Atlasloot are the ones I found to use a lot of memory

My suggestion: get rid of all your addons, download Tukui, and then add only those addons you really need, like:
DBM (DXE is even better for me)
Skada (far better than recount and includes also a threat meter so you can drop also omen)
omniCC (i don’t remeber if Tukui has a built in cooldown tracker)
Atlasloot (if you’re lazy like me and don’t want to search boss’ loot on internet)
That’s pretty much all what you need and you’ll have a very minimalistic UI which I personally love! If you’re wondering you can look for it on www.tukui.org
I hope this helps!

The Unstoppable Force
Some of those addons have a fairly substantial amount of information stored in the background, and that is largely what is responsible for that figure.
Auctioneer, and likely Gathermate2 are good candidates for that.
Auctioneer is something that should you wish only keep enabled on maybe a bank alt.
Gathermate2 you can leave enabled only on those with mining or herbalism, maybe engineering though it is my understanding you can remove from your database selected nodes. It may prove useful to do that for those you are not able to gather.
Atlasloot has a similar static record, but at least when I last looked at mine was less than 2mb, maybe nearer 1mb so is hardly something to worry that much about.
Try clearing as suggested recount on a regular basis, with an option I think of being to limit the recording to boss fights, where if you really need such information is the only place it would be useful.
DBM should be loading modules on demand, so providing you aren’t running a vast amount of content it should not be using that much. Those with a fairly static usage simply as storage are nothing to be concerned about, not least with wow often using over 10 times that.
CPU usage is what kills performance or excessive paging or modification of data in memory, often to store things in-use, like recount etc.Last edited by ComputerNerd; 2010-11-26 at 12:12 PM.

It’s not the MB, it’s the CPU usage. Your 60mb UI had more addons sucking up CPU cycles. 1.5mb or 150mb with the same CPU load will have no difference for you on a 4gb machine.

Large Address Aware».
Интерфейс программы очень простой:

Вам нужно:
1) Указать путь к клиенту (например файл «Wow.exe»)
2) Поставить галочку в чекбоксе.
3) Нажать кнопку «Save»
