Error There is Already an instance of Fallout: New Vegas
After trying more than 15 solutions to fix this game to run in Win10, i got it running by installing the following:
4gb patch
nvse
nvac
nv stutter remover.
ALTHOUGH it says its running but i have no display of the game. sometimes two instances of fnv are running but again i dont have display of the game.
my font scaling is on 100% and my H/W are 1920/1080.
i tried using the d3d9.dll and nothing.
i ran the game from steam=nothing, from .exe=nothing, from nexus mod manager=nothing, from nvse launcher=nothing.

Go into your task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and kill the process.

I already tried that, every single time I launch 4gb it creates 2 instances automatically.

I had this exact same problem. I can’t remember exactly what fixed it, but I think it was this
«»C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonFallout New VegasFNV4GB.exe» -laaexe .FalloutNV4GB.exe»

hey guys i ran into this problem as well. This is how i fixed it.
1.On pc start up, go to steam
2.go to library, then fallout newvegas
3.right-click on fallout new vegas, go to properties, local files, verify game cache
4. after this id done, run the falloutnv patch(from nexusmods)
after verifying cache and then patching the game works fine. until i restart my pc. then i have to repeat these steps. to me this isn’t that painful of a work around. but then again i did grow up in an era when ppl had to blow in the game and fight with it to get it to work. but this points to a steam update causing this drama.

у меня проблема.я установил мод зомби. и эти зомби как хамелеоны.и ещё мод cri там у салдатов восклицательные знаки.помоги.
можно решить проблему с cri.там архив и в архиве папки (например:textures,meshes и тому подоб.) находиш в папке с игрой папку Data, откр. архив и из архива выкидуеш все папки в дату с заменой файлов(должна быть). если не было то ищеш в дате папку которая называется также как и архив или первая папка в архиве.заходиш в эту папку и перемещаеш в дату..(но ещё раз повторяю это если не было замены файлов)
мод у мя щас стоит и норм игр.
спс.осталась одна проблема.почему оружия,зомби и броня сливаются с окружаущим миром?тоесть как хамелеон?

it might help to but this in the fallout 3 forums/sub-forums as not everybody here has/can/wants to play fallout 3 and you would get a lot more traffic in there then here

Hello world!
I had a fresh Ubuntu 9.04 install, got the ATI driver for my Radeon HD 8740 up, installed myself compiz and then got my hands on POL for installing Fallout 3. I get the sound and all at the Launcher.. and if I try to launch Fallout 3 directly without the launcher, I get this error (picture taken from this topic). I’d really like to see my Fallout 3 runing on my desktop.. :laught: |

I just installed Fallout 3 and put FOSE in the game directory in order for FOMM to detect it. After installing the patch, I clicked the ‘Launch FOSE’ button, but the game doesn’t launch. When I click it again, I get the message «There is already an instance of Fallout 3 running.» It took me all night just to get FOSE in the correct folder, and now I have this to deal with. Please, somebody help me. I’m sure this problem has been solved before, but I don’t want to go drudging through thousands of posts to find the answer.

it might help to but this in the fallout 3 forums/sub-forums as not everybody here has/can/wants to play fallout 3 and you would get a lot more traffic in there then here

я или какой то левый мод поставил,или просто их стало слишком много,но игра у меня при запуске постоянно стала вылетать.пишет-there is already an instance of fallout 3 running.что это значит?что у меня куда бежит?))и как с этим бороться?нормально же все было…
there is already an instance of fallout 3 running — означает что Фол уже процесс фола уже запущен, повторный запуск не возможен у 3 фола. Открой диспетчер задач и в процессах заверши третий фол, да что там блин, комп перезагрузи 😀

I followed the step guide, though i didn’t download many mods.
Most of the time, when i run the game in Mod Organizer, the launcher will come up, i’ll click play, and sometimes the game will launch and play normally. The majority of the time however, it does not and i end up with the warning that the game is already running.
When this happens i can not see any evidence of the game running exept for when i check task manager and click ‘more details’ where i can find fallout and fallout 4gb running. I can end these and try again, but mostly this will repeat.
My load order is:
