Hi,

to see the cause of Windows Vista or Windows 7 update failures, we must look for error messages in the following log files:

Please run the Windows Explorer and go to the folder «C:WindowsLogsCBS» and
copy all files to your document folder, also copy the setupapi.dev.log from the folder C:WindowsInf and the file «C:Windowswinsxspoqexec.log» to your document folder (otherwise you can’t upload it), zip all files into 1 ZIP and
upload the zip to your SkyDrive [1] and post a link here.

After running the System Readiness tool (again) I’ve determined that there are corrupt files in the the c:windowsservicingpackaging directory.  I replaced them from a server that I was able to apply the SP1 patch to….once replaced the SP1
installed on this server….on to the next server….wonder if it is the same issue.  For reference I had to replace the following files

Package_for_KB2485376_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.cat

Package_for_KB2485376_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.mum

Package_for_KB2475792_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.3.mum

Package_for_KB2475792_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.3.cat

This error appears to happen when .mof files (Managed Object Format (MOF)) don’t get installed and registered correctly during set-up. To resolve this issue, I executed
the following mofcomp command in command prompt to re-register the *.mof files:

mofcomp.exe "C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server100Sharedsqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"

Hi Pallavi,

Need assistance with the WMI, error: The remote procedure call failed (0x800706be) when trying to use SWL Server Configuration Manager.

Cause: this is an access violation occurring in one of SQLs WMI provider DLLs.  MODULE_NAME: svrenumapi100 & IMAGE_NAME:svrenumapi100.dll. It looks like a problem with their namespace.

Please try to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 to see if it would be work. Download:
