Hello,
I am having an issue with the game as of one of the past updates.
Unfortunetly have not played the game for many months, so I dont know which release/update/patch caused the issue but I have over 100 hours played so it is a new(ish) issues for sure.

I have the steam version.

I am able to open the launcher, and launch the game, the initial screen will appear but then the game crashes before I hit the main menu.
The error message after the crash says:
«An error has occurred and the application quit quit unexpectedly. a crash report has been generated which could help us to fix the issue in a future»
When I try to send the error report, this fails also.

I have tried:
— Updating my NVIDIA drivers
— Unintalling and re-installing the game
— Verifying the integrity of the game files in steam
— Opening the .exe file as administrator (I get a blank window instead of the launcher)

Please let me know if I can provide any other useful information .

— move any valued save games elsewhere
— «uninstall» in Steam-CK3
— manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3 folders
— re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
— add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware «Apps Allowed Through» list.
— start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

Sorry for the late response here, I’ve been really busy and have really slow internet so it’s hard to find a time to do a fresh instal.

Anyway, I followed all the steps above and have the same error.

Requested files are attached in a zip file.

excptions.log file does not exist.

Lots of DirectX 11 errors, plus other video problems in there. While your nVidia driver is pretty recent, being on Windows 8.1 is not ideal — were you at all thinking of updating that OS?

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick «disable fullScreen optimisations» untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.

Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Is that any better?

If not, edit that pdx_settings.txt file and replace DX11 with OpenGL .Does it load then?

Hi, I have Windows 10 Home, intel i7 6700 HQ cpu with Nvidia GeForce GTX950 graphic card.

Recently, I have updated EU4 to 1.29.5. When I click to play on launcher, this crash report comes. EU4 logo screen appear for a second, game music continues to play until I send the crash report or close it. I have tried, clean re-install, verify game folder on steam, borderless full screen, compatibility mode with Windows 7 and 8. Run as administrator, disable full screen optimizations etc.

The essence of the word, I have done almost every solutions I see on online platforms which people having the similar problems. Nothing seems to work. Last, I deleted all EU4 files, uninstall the game, delete all documents and appdata folder with local and roaming. Install the game again in different hard drive sector. That wont help either. I have uploaded my last crash report folder completely. (That report belong before I have install the game to different hard drive sector. After, I done that, I am having new crash report which is «Bootstrapper Error — Couldn’t start launcher». I believe I can solve this by bypassing the launcher and start the game directly in EU4 folder. My major problem is the one I written on title. I am looking forward to somenone help me.

Can’t install / Launch Stellaris

I bought ages ago Stellaris on Steam. I like it a lot. (Btw, great game. Many thanks for this ! Awesome)
Since Covid me and friends wanna play again and I try a fresh install on a new computer, but it failed miserably.

From Steam, I can download Stellaris. Game integrity is checked and is okay. But when I try to launch it, I get «Paradox Crash reporter» instantly. «An error has occured and the application quit unexpectedly. A crash report [. ]». No error message, no explanation. I changed the settings and tried stuff such as purging AppData and so on. I always get the same error message.

I then changed my mind, abandonned steam and wanted to install Stellaris from paradox Launcher instead. When I do so, I can’t install anything. I press «install» and see a bunch of items. When it goes to «Downloading / Applying dependecies (3/7)». It just stops. A red panel says «An error occured (dismiss)». And that’s it. No more details.

I tried to fix thing during hours. I even cleaned my registry from paradox entries to try a reinstall. Nothing seems to work.
Any idea ?

Sounds like you get past the launcher and the issue is starting the game itself, is that right?

If so, in the launcher set Display mode to borderless.

IF that doesn’t help, Please do a full **clean** re-install:

— move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
— «uninstall» in Steam-Stellaris
— manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
— re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
— add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware «Apps Allowed Through» list.
— start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

Also if you have FRAPS or the MSI Gaming App or Rivatuner installed, disable it as it clashes with this game.
