    2) DGS-1510-28 Gigabit Ethernet SmartPro Switch.

Getting event log error 27 e1iexpress The description for Event ID 27 from source e1iexpress cannot be found

I’m getting this error occasionally in my event log. My system is windows 8.1 64-bit up-to-patch. The gigabit network connection works fine but still the error is logged. Can anyone help?

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft community forum.

I would like to know some information about the issue so that we could help you better.

Did you make any hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the issue?

Event Viewer tracks information in several different logs such as application events, security related events and system events.

Event logs are special files that record significant events on your computer, such as when a user logs on to the computer or when a program encounters an error. Whenever these types of events occur, Windows records the event in an event log that you can read by using «Event Viewer».

This issue may occur if the Windows files are damanged, missing or corrupt.

I would suggest you to run system file checker(SFC) and see if it helps.
Refer this article:
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/929833

System file checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Note: It may ask for Windows installation DVD to fix and to enable SFC to make more than minor repairs. Some files saved on your computer might get deleted when fixing corrupted files.

I hope this information helps.

Please do let us know if you need any further assistance.

E1qexpress.

Supermicro X8DTN+ (1 PCI-E x8, 2 PCI-E x16, 3 PCI-X, 1 UIO, 18 DDR3 DIMM, Video, Dual Gigabit LAN)
2x QuadCore Intel Xeon E5620, 2533 MHz (19 x 133)
Intel(R) 82576 Gigabit Dual Port Network Connection
Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition

Intel(R) 82576 Gigabit Dual Port Network Connection. Network link is disconnected.

Intel(R) 82576 Gigabit Dual Port Network Connection. Network link has been established at 1Gbps full duplex.

The opinion expressed by me is not an official position of Microsoft

I have done a lot of research into this problem and have not come across anything conclusive. There seems to be quite a mix up of drivers available which is quite confusing; I have experienced this error on two different drivers that are supposed to be for this NIC.

Every 3 or 4 weeks the NIC will do this for hours on end never establishing a stable connection:

Computer: SERVER.domain.local Description: HP NC112i 1-port Ethernet Server Adapter #2 Network link is disconnected.

The current driver for the NIC that I have installed which I think is the latest is: An Intel driver ‘e1q62x64’, version: 12.7.27.0.Server software is Windows SBS 2011 Standard on a Proliant ML110 G7.

We have not always had this problem, but it has been going on for the last 6 months at least with the most recent incident happening this morning. Thankfully this time a restart fixed the problem for now, sometimes it takes quite some fiddling around to try and get the link to come up and stablise (Not actually a proper fix solving the issue).

The switch it is connecting to is a TP-Link TL-SF1048 v4.

Some extra errors they may be related but I am not sure:

          Hey guys,

been getting random disconnects that last about a second…but long enough to mess up my loading of sites or my online gaming.

things that might help you troubleshoot:
          — pc is relatively new, switched to ryzen 7 around christmas of 2017
          — mobo is Asus Crosshair VI Hero
          — driver is up to date (even tried updating it with driver booster) (couldnt manually find the driver on the asus website…i guess they dont do that anymore — also couldnt find it on the intel website)
          — using the onboard nic: Intel(R) I211 Gigabit
          — win 10 is fully updated
          — all drivers are working fine (no conflicts)
          — even tried cleaning the leads off the cable and port

Any ideas on why this shows up or how to fix it?

          Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

We regret the inconvenience caused to you. Let me assist you.

          • What is the make and model of the computer?

I understand your Event logs show an error in spite of your connectivity being proper.
I suggest you to run a troubleshooter on the system and check if the cause and fix can be obtained.

          Method 1:

Run the network troubleshooter to check if the system has internet connection first. Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is
          with your internet.

          Refer these steps:

          1. Press Windows key + X
          Key, select Control panel

          2. Change the view by option on the top right to
          Large icons.

          3. Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel

          4. Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter

If the issue persists, try Method 2.

          Method 2:

I suggest you to update all the drivers from Device manager manually by uninstalling and reinstalling from the manufacturer website. Drivers may show an updated status but it’s recommended to download all the drivers for Windows 10 from the manufacturer.

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

          1. On the search bar type “Device Manager.

          2. On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it.

          3. Right on the “Network Adapter” option and click “Uninstall’.

          4. Download the latest Network adapter driver setup file from the
          manufacturer’s website and install it.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

        Hello,

I’m new here and I don’t usually find myself going to forums and tech websites to find answers to my PC problems but this one has stumped me completely. Short and simple, Friday 13th struck me this year because I’ve had a ton and a ton of wierd and worrying Event ID’s pop up and my PC is going apeshit voodoo on me since. Here’s a list of every problem I was getting but the immediate one which I have not been able to solve yet is the described one in the thread title.

        What happens?

Well this has been going on for a course of 3 months now and before I never got any kind of event ID for it until I recently hard-reinstalled my Windows 7 for other reasons. I’ve not refreshed my build in many years and it just needed the fresh start. I thought at first it could have been my ISP. I’m with Virgin Media and I asked the engineer about it when he came out to upgrade my fibre optics plan, he said he had no clue but he will check the connections and all seemed fine from both ends.

Suddenly when I reinstalled my windows 7 the event ID 27: e1cexpress begins appearing all over my logs, occuring more than 30 times a day usually, I never noticed any kind of connection drops until recently and all efforts on google search seem to be in vain. People on there do not have the same rig or motherboard or issue as me, it’s something I do not understand or completely straying off-topic to my issue so I had no choice but to come here before I go and buy a new motherboard. I’ve posted my specs below and what I did before this issue began.

        What I did.

Well I reinstalled Windows 7 around June 12th as I said it needed its fresh start after a good three/four years and I was getting a very strange BSOD from time to time which gave me this bug code but it would not allow my PC to generate a crash dump so I could not BlueScreenView it:

        The bugcheck was: 0x00000101 (0x0000000000000019, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff880009b3180, 0x0000000000000004). A dump was saved in: C:WindowsMEMORY.DMP. Report Id: .

        — People say this bugcode points to CPU or power issues with my PC. I find this unlikely given I had to replace my CPU’s thermal paste on June 8th due to my temperature in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive being 90-100 degree’s and fully freezing my PC. This was an easy fix and after wards I’ve never had any problems in my games that would point to my GPU or CPU being the problem. I’m really just unsure what this blue screen means.

(This comes from the Event Viewer again, though it isn’t the main issue anymore, I couldn’t find any kind of solution or clue to what this was either, besides the fact that I had flashed my BIOS once or twice in the past year and foolishly forgot that your BIOS updates do not reset when you install Windows 7 again, so I may of accidentally f*cked my BIOS when I flashed it again around June 12th)

Alongside that on my new windows build, this event ID (Screenshot above) kept appearing. Now the mistake I may of made was not installing my ASUS motherboard drivers from the rev CD that came with my component box. Instead I thought I could just download the most up to date drivers for all my motherboard utilities and features straight from the ASUS website (http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P9X79+PRO&os=30). Screenshot included showing the downloaded drivers I used instead of my motherboard’s CD (because it would of been out of date). I ended up getting into a little bit of a muddle with my drivers but fixed in the end, I’m wondering if may of damaged or did something to my Ethernet driver/component on my MB by making this mistake?

Anyway after that I started getting major 10-20 second Application Hangs which gave me this in the event viewer:

Reset to device, DeviceRaidPort1, was issued.

        Event ID: 129

Google said it was something to do with my RAID driver. Earlier that day I did make an attempt to uninstall and completely reinstall all Intel/ASUS drivers I obtained on the current fresh W7 build. I was trying to fix the previous issues, namely the e1cexpress as well, but it looks like I just managed to bog my motherboard and system up even more so I did a second Windows 7 reinstall.

This time on my fresh build of Windows 7 I used the ASUS CD from my motherboard box and put the normal drivers on, only what I needed. So far I wasn’t having any problems after I put W7 Service Pack 1 on, Framework 4.5.1, etc. All 300-400 windows updates, Direct-X end-user runtimes, NVIDIA drivers, blah blah the works. Now suddenly this e1cexpress event ID is haunting me again and I am seeing my internet drop for 1-2 seconds literally.

Also another issue among this bible of tech failures I’m writing for you:

An error was detected on device DeviceHarddisk4DR4 during a paging operation. Source: Disk — Event ID 51

I don’t know how to tell which one out of my six hard drives is Harddisk4, but just in case I googled this problem and many people say its unfixable, basically the hard drive is getting ready to die. I backed up all my stuff immediately and started saving money for a new one but I’m unable to identify which one this is. When I reinstalled my Windows 7 for the first time on June 12th (The beginning of this massive tech-babble lol!), I thought it may be handy for you to know that I quick-formatted all of my hard drives apart from my external one I use for backups (I unplugged it during W7 reinstall), then I went into my windows 7 installation and formatted my old C Drive with my old windows on so there was no going back at this point. I was forced to change the partition of my disk to MBR or GPT. I chose MBT and then proceeded to install windows. I don’t know if that could of caused a problem or whatever, I just need to know how I can identify which Harddisk #4 is so I know to replace it if it fails.

So yeah it’s a ton of problems that have cropped up in the past 4 days guys, sorry if it’s a big boring wall of text but right now I seem to have put a hault to -all- issues apart from the e1cexpress ethernet issue. I would appreciate it if anyone could take just a moment to try and help me out, I can’t live without my PC lol! especially my internet. It’s my life and if you don’t believe me? My specifications prove how much I spent on my baby.

In attempt to try and fix this e1cexpress ethernet problem, I just uninstalled my last Intel driver for my Ethernet controller and put the latest one on my PC from the ASUS website.

        Specifications

        • ■Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 PRO + Realtek Onboard HD Audio
■Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Titanium (EVGA SC ACX Edition)

■Memory: G.Skill Rip JawZ 16GB Quad Channel (4×4 Modules) — Forgot the speed but I think it is either 1600Mhz or 1800? Definitely below 2000.
■Peripherals: Razer DeathAdder 2013 (Mouse) / Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 (Keyboard) / Razer Hammerhead In-Ear Headphones / Razer Goliathus Extended Mousemat
          ■Displays: Iiyama Prolite E2773HS 27″ LED 1080/1ms Response (Main Screen) / Samsung SyncMaster 2433BW 24″ LCD (16:10 1920×1200) 2ms Response (Second Screen)

If anyone needs more information or if you want to Teamview me to see my PC live? Skype: icefox.3 (look for νισℓєт) or Xfire: icefox3

I will do anything to get some help here from someone who knows how to deal with this.

Then it’s the LAN controller or the switch. I had a bad switch that caused a system to crash while other systems didn’t seem to be affected; it took me several days to identify the source of that issue.

I know this sounds unrelated but try it. Set your power settings to always on, i.e. no sleep and no hibernate and no power down anything, and reboot.

Giving it a try, I’m going for a quick nap but I will be turning off my PC now I just did this. High Performance — No hibernation or sleeps, no power downs, I also looked up something which says it’s good to keep the PCI-Express setting on «Off». Screenshot included just now of what I did.

I presume the NIC connected to a switch or modem? Are you sure it works properly? I’ve had really weird issues, including system crahes, because of a bad switch.

Well my internet is fine, I can play games, just occasionally my net will cut out for a split second and it can get quite annoying. I’m not getting any crashes or BSOD’s because of it. It’s just this one Event ID which keeps repeating like 40 times a day. I can’t be sure if my NIC is damaged honestly, but I do suspect my ethernet port is faulty because I had my PC over another house for a short time and the friends cable I used had a very very small and tight clip on it making it very difficult to pull out. I’m worried if I may of damaged my NIC by that because these net «drop outs» didn’t really happen until shortly after I left my friend’s house.

You haven’t told us how the PC is connected to the Internet; do you have a single PC and no switch or router? I doubt the connector is damaged; otherwise it probably woudn’t work at all.

It’s just a single PC with one more in the house that is a relatives. We’re hooked upto a Superhub V2 Fibre Optic Router by normal ethernet cables. There’s nothing unusual about my setup, it’s 100% standard.

No it doesn’t GhislainG, I’m about to get the money to upgrade from a P9X79 Pro to an ASUS RAMPAGE IV Extreme, new MB, new Ethernet, and a very good upgrade all in all. Unless I get the new motherboard in a few days and the problem *STILL* occurs (It would obviously be my internet at that point), no need to keep this topic open but if anyone has any other suggestions that are immediate and could help me fix this problem (provided its software related, not hardware), I’d appreciate it if you helped me save £300. Lol! Thanks again everyone for giving your support, I was sure no one would take 5 mins to care for my issues but goes to show I was wrong, thanks to all again. ☺

It’s difficult to say. How long is the lease defined on your DHCP server? Does it expire within hours or several days?

I would try a different switch just to make sure it isn’t the root cause of that issue.

Type ipconfig /all from a command prompt. Then check the following lines for your Intel LAN controller:

        Lease Obtained: date and time
        Lease Expires: date and time

As an example, my IP address was obtained on June 12 at 6:31 AM and it expires on June 24 at 4:55 PM.

Then it’s the LAN controller or the switch. I had a bad switch that caused a system to crash while other systems didn’t seem to be affected; it took me several days to identify the source of that issue.

Yeah so if its the switch (assuming that’s a physical part of my motherboard), the MB needs replacing? Buy a new one because I’m about to do that now?

See all my stuff I buy is onboard, I don’t do soundcards, network cards, it’s all built into my MB because it’s just simple that way lol.

I meant Ethernet switch, but you may only have a router.

The solution was the Ethernet cable. For anybody looking to fix this problem.

Solution. Device Manage > Network Adapters > Intel 82579 Gigabit Network Connection > Properties > Power Management > Uncheck Allow Windows to turn off …
Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. A left over from pre permanent cable and DSL connections.
